Open Public Meeting
April 29th, 2021

Good Morning Turtle Mountains

Welcome to the April Open Public Meeting.

Condolences and prayers to those who have lost loved ones in our area.

Prayers to the sick and suffering.

I want to start off by letting you all know that we (Tribal Council) are here to help the people out in whatever ways we can. Whether it be with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or other needs, let us know. We will do what we can to assist. People needing medical assistance are welcome to bring your paperwork in and submit for aid. Many people are attending appointments out of town or need continuous care. Please reach out to us.

Want to provide updates on current projects.

  1. TM Manufacturing Plant – Continue to work with engineers on the update of the building and preparation for usage. Will also be working with other professionals to seek possible contracts and new business opportunities. Getting people to work is the main focus!!
  2. Equine Community Event Center – the Tribal Council and Tribal Employees are working together as a team to make this project a reality. The team has done some brainstorming for ideas, viewed other buildings in different locations, created some design options, and have thought about events and activities that could take place here. This project is moving forward and I want to thank all o the people that are involved.
  3. Recover Center – this project is continuing and making progress. Funding is secured, design is happening, and construction is on the way. Many community members have been involved in this project and deserve to be recognized for their hard work.
  4. Summer Events – I am looking forward to initiating some summer events that our community has not seen in a while. These events would be focused around rodeo, team roping, and bull riding. Youth Rodeos and youth horsemanship activities for kids of all ages are in the plans. I am interesting bringing back the Chippewa Stampede Rodeo, Team Roping Events, and Professional Bull Riding that our community can attend. The last summer event that I would like to promote is Indian Relay Races. One whole weekend of Championship raced in August.
