SUMMARY:
The Agriculture Production & Grow Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of agricultural production systems within the Agriculture Research &
Development Department. This position supports greenhouse, hoop house, aquaponic, and outdoor growing operations.
The technician will assist in planting, maintaining, and harvesting crops, including traditional foods and medicinal plants, while supporting the Tribe’s efforts to strengthen local food systems and agricultural development,
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plant, maintain, and harvest crops in greenhouse, hoop house, and outdoor growing environments
- Assist with setup and operation of hydroponic and aquaponic systems
- Monitor plant health, irrigation systems, and environmental conditions
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of growing areas and equipment
- Assist with soil preparation, irrigation setup, and seasonal growing activities e Support cultivation of traditional foods and medicinal plants o Assist with seed saving, propagation, and plant care o Assist with harvesting, washing, drying, and storage of crops and plant materials
- Maintain records of planting schedules, harvest yields, and production activities e Assist with general maintenance of agricultural sites, tools, and equipment e Support setup and breakdown of growing systems and work areas
- Assist with community events, youth programs, and demonstrations
- Work collaboratively with staff, interns, and volunteers
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in agriculture, gardening, greenhouse operations, or related field preferred
- Basic knowledge of plant care and growing systems
- Ability to perform physical labor in indoor and outdoor environments • Ability to work independently and as part of a team e Strong work ethic and reliability
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hydroponics or aquaponics systems
- Knowledge of traditional foods or medicinal plants
- Experience working in a team or community-based environment
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor agricultural environments
- Requires physical activity including lifting, bending, standing, and working with tools and equipment c Exposure to varying weather conditions depending on season
- May require occasional evening or weekend work to support planting, harvesting, or community events
