 SUMMARY:

The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians is seeking a qualified and dedicated Child Daycare Manager/Director to oversee the daily operations of its childcare center. This position plays a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and culturally enriched environment for children and families in our community.

This position operates under the direct supervision of the Turtle Mountain Childcare Program Director.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage daily operations of the daycare center, including staffing, scheduling, and enrollment.
  • Supervise and support childcare staff, ensuring compliance with policies and professional standards.
  • Develop and implement culturally relevant, age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Ensure compliance with tribal, state, and federal childcare regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records for licensing, health, safety, and education standards.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and tribal leadership.
  • Promote Chippewa cultural values and traditions within the daycare settings.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of child development principles, safety regulations, and curriculum planning.
  • Familiarity with tribal governance, customs, and values preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Oversee budgeting, purchasing, and resource allocation for the center.
  • Other duties as assigned, related to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Must have proof of valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in childcare management, early childhood education, or daycare administration
  • Experience working with tribal communities or in culturally diverse settings is highly desirable
  • Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Upon hire, must Complete of a minimum of 16 hours of Health and Safety Training, to be renewed every two years
  • Must meet all state and tribal licensing requirements for childcare facility directors
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Knowledge of child development principles, safety regulations, and curriculum planning
  • Familiarity with tribal governance, customs, and values preferred
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Must pass a comprehensive background check
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends
