Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Keep up on safety and keep Firefighters and community safe at all times.
  •  Doing annual business inspections to ensure they are in NFPA compliance.
  •  Doing community wide fire extinguisher for HIS and other agencies to keep their facilities safe.
  •  Scheduling fire drills with local schools.
  •  Working with Tribal and Rolette County Emergency Management.
  •  Work with Redcross to provide smoke alarms to our community.
  •  Work with schools on Fire Prevention (head start, K, 1st, 2nd grade).
  •  Responding to structural fired, motor vehicle accidents, wildland fires, and all other emergency calls.
  •  Work with Belcourt EMS on annual CPR/First Aid or EMR/EMT for BRFD staff and volunteers.
  •  Keeping up on maintenance on fire trucks and equipment.
  •  Working with supervisors with the day-to-day tasks.
  •  Work with local law enforcement/BCI/State Fire Marshall on investigating arson.
  •  All other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Have working knowledge of computer programs such as word, excel, publisher, NFIRS, and NIMS.
  • Have working knowledge of first aide.
  • Have communication capabilities to follow and perform written and verbal instructions.
  • Have capabilities able to handle and work under stressful situations.
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, other agencies and the public.

 Qualifications required:

  • Must have High School/GED.
  • Must have 2 year’s current experience.
  • Must have current Drivers’ License.
  • Must be CPR, EMT or Paramedic Certified.
  • Must be willing to become a trained/certified firefighter.
  • Must be able to work day/night shifts.
  • Must have knowledge of computers.
  • Must have good written and oral skills.
