 SUMMARY:

Recruiter/Retention Coordinator will be responsible for meeting hiring and retention goals by filling open positions with talented and qualified candidates. Duties include developing a retention plan, sourcing and screening candidates, reviewing qualifications, assisting with candidate application forms to ensure all information is secured, conducting community public relations and working closely with Tribal HR to ensure compliance with Policies and Procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop recruitment schedule.
  • Conduct public relations throughout service area promoting fire department and the need for volunteers.
  • Screen candidates by reviewing resumes and job applications and reference checks; forward information to Tribal Human Relations.
  • Develop plan on retaining recruits and submit to Fire Chief and Tribal Council for approval.
  • Work with Fire Chief on yearly budget and submit to Tribal Council for approval.
  • Ensure recruits are properly attired for job as firefighter.
  • Ensure inventory of department personnel gear; submit yearly inventory to Tribal Property and Supply.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ experience as a firefighter
  • Financial knowledge regarding developing yearly budget including budget narrative
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to make decisions independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships built on trust (submit 2 letters of verification of this requirement with application).
  • Must be currently certified in CPR and First Aid (submit certification with application).
  • Must have attended related fire trainings (a minimum of 6 per year for the past 2 years -submit proof of attendance).
  • Current North Dakota Driver’s License.
  • Proof of vehicle insurance.
  • State and Tribal background check
