About the TM TYP
The Turtle Mountain Tribal Youth Program was developed in April of 2012 by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. The Program is dedicated to helping our youth to develop and prosper into self-reliant adults. Its focus is youth empowerment, through a holistic approach, by incorporating education, culture, health, fitness and through positive activities.
It is our goal to instill positive behaviors in our young people and life skills to help them succeed in life. The Tribal Youth Program’s mission is to afford them the opportunities to achieve their life goals and enrich their lives with heathy and positive activities.
We engage our youth in the seven grandfather teachings where they are taught respect, love, wisdom, bravery, honesty, humility and truth. With these teachings, they learn how to conduct themselves towards others and live harmoniously, healthy lives.
We are focused on developing more effective ways of preparing the youth to become self-reliant and to work well with others on community youth-focused projects, particularly on behalf of our children and elders.
