Position Overview

Accounting & Financial Management

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard revenue, expenditures, and program budgets.
• Coordinate and manage all audit activities.
• Analyze financial data and prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Communicate financial information clearly to senior leadership, including trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions as needed.
• Lead the annual budgeting and planning process; compare actual results to budgets and explain variances.
• Support the CFO in engaging the Board’s Finance and Audit Committees on financial trends and operating performance.

Grants & Program Financial Oversight

• Oversee financial management of projects, programs, and grants.
• Ensure expenditures align with grant and program budgets throughout funding periods.
• Prepare and consolidate financial reports for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
• Maintain compliance with grant requirements, reporting standards, and funding guidelines.

Cash Flow & Investments

• Manage organizational cash flow forecasting in collaboration with program leadership.
• Partner with program managers to assess financial efficiency and sustainability.
• Establish systems that support program operations and financial accountability.
• Monitor and track investment performance in accordance with organizational policies.

Leadership & Team Development

• Leverage strengths of finance team members and clarify roles and responsibilities.
• Develop and implement training programs to support staff growth and organizational effectiveness.
• Foster strong internal communication across all levels of the organization.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, ideally including public accounting/audit experience.
• Experience working in complex organizations with multiple programs or funding sources.
• Proven ability to gather, analyze, and present financial information to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and audit processes.
• Demonstrated experience managing government, corporate, and foundation grants, including compliance and reporting.
• Familiarity with government grant portals and funding requirements.
